Heritage Week 2024: Arts & Crafts Evening

Join us for an evening of a variety of different arts and crafts in an empty, quiet Cathedral.

Activity 1: Sketching

Sketching is a way of looking and observing using both your eyes and your hand. Artist and art historian Mags Harnett will take you on a sketching tour of the cathedral beginning with the architecture from the outside and then concentrating on some of the wonderful details inside Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.

Activity 2: Print Making

Join us for an evening of creativity and mindfulness as we explore the art of printmaking! The Cathedral is full of interesting and vibrant patterns. From floor tiles to stained glass to embroidery, take inspiration from the building’s beautiful patchwork and translate it into a beautiful print to take home. This workshop is best suited for participants over 18 years of age. No materials necessary.

Booking

During the evening, there are two different workshops running in the Cathedral. The first is Printmaking and the second is Sketching. When you book your tickets, you can choose which workshop you would like. You should only book one kind of ticket per person as the workshops run at the same time.

No skill or materials are necessary! Just bring yourself and some enthusiasm and enjoy the quiet of an empty Cathedral and various arts and crafts activities on offer from several professional facilitators.

Please note that this workshop is best suited for participants over 18 years of age. Immerse yourself in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere, surrounded by the stunning beauty of a quiet cathedral, and let your creativity flourish.

On Tuesday evenings, our bell ringers often practise. The soundtrack to your evening will be the sound of the Cathedral bells.
